And so begins, not only an investigation into his slaying, but the opening of a ‘cold case’ review into the murder of twenty-two year Lucy Blake-Hall, who vanished without trace on August Bank Holiday, 1983, and whose body has never been found.
Yet a man has already admitted to killing her and is currently serving a life sentence. Is he innocent?
From the outset of the enquiry DS Hunter Kerr and his team uncover a 25 year old hidden secret. Once revealed it sets in motion a dramatic chain of events; someone is going to horrific lengths to keep the truth hidden and no one is safe.

Vendetta - Available to pre-order now
Nick Oldham's brilliant novelisation of the film Vendetta is available to pre-order now from Caffeine Nights and all good book shops including Amazon.
Published 28th November 2013
VENDETTA is a hard hitting urban vigilante film set amongst the backdrop of broken Britain starring Danny Dyer, Vincent Regan, Nick Nevern, Bruce Payne, Josef Altin and Tony Denham. Produced by Jonathan Sothcott (White Collar Hooligan, Devil’s Playground). Written and directed by Stephen Reynolds (fall of the Essex Boys).
George never meant to kill the thief – he was just defending his shop from the jacked up kids who were trying to rob him. The former boxer meant to break the kid’s jaw maybe, but not for him to fall and split his head open. Arrested for murder his world is turned upside down. But the next night the doorbell rings and before George has even opened the door the gang have swarmed into his house – they beat him senseless, rape his wife and tie them up and set fire to them. Thoughtless, feral.
Jimmy, George’s son, has been dishonourably discharged from the Royal Marines in Afghanistan and is on his way back to London when he gets the news. A calculating warrior forged on the battlefield, Jimmy was an interrogation specialist who knows more than he should. It isn’t long before he’s on the trail of the gang who murdered his parents, exacting his own kind of chillingly brutal justice. With the police closing in and his old regiment determined to stop him from airing their dirty laundry on trial, Jimmy goes underground. His actions have created a media frenzy, London’s first vigilante of the 21st Century but will his devastating course of action spell the end of the woman he loves?

British Horror Legend Shaun Hutson Signs for Caffeine Nights
Caffeine Night Publishing has proudly signed best-selling British horror writing legend Shaun Hutson to publish his forthcoming novel Monolith as well as his backlist beginning with four titles to be published in October. The first four backlist titles to start are Spawn, Relics, Assassin and Renegades.
Monolith is the first original Shaun Hutson novel since Epitaph in 2010 and will be published in 2014. Once dubbed the bad boy of British horror, Hutson has never been afraid to tackle subjects many of his contemporaries would baulk at.
“Horror has been sidetracked into Mills & Boon vampire love stories for pre-pubescent girls. That’s all changing; we live in darker times and real horror writing should reflect that. I wanted a publisher who will respect that.” Shaun commented.
Managing director of Caffeine Nights, Darren Laws said, “We believe Shaun should be Britain’s number one horror writer with his backlist, craft and imagination and we intend to put him right back there. Shaun has an extremely vibrant and dedicated legion of fans and I am honoured to be publishing these titles and his new novel, Monolith.”
Caffeine Nights are totally redesigning the backlist covers for the 21st century, many of which will be available in eBook format for the first time. “Shaun’s older books are as relevant now as they have always been. We are giving them a new coat and presenting them to a new audience as well as his many loyal fans. His new book, Monolith, is going to not only please his existing fans but will gain him many new ones. Signing Shaun, the Godfather of Gore, is a major coup for an independent publisher of our size and we’re grateful to Shaun and his agent, Brie Burkeman, for giving us this chance.” Darren said.
Caffeine Nights Signs Dougie Brimson
Caffeine Nights Publishing is pleased to announce that it has signed author Dougie Brimson for three books. Dougie who scripted the multi-award winning movie ‘Green Street’ starring Elijah Wood has also enjoyed major success with his novels.
With over half a million books sold worldwide, his first title Everywhere We Go (first published in 1996) remains a cult classic whilst his first novel, The Crew, has held the #1 slot on the soccer charts of both Amazon and iTunes for over 17 months and was the most downloaded football related title of 2012.
The sequel to The Crew, Top Dog, has rarely been out of the top 5 on the respective paid download football charts at Amazon and iTunes.
Top Dog begins filming with a Dougie Brimson screenplay in the UK in the summer with the backing of Universal Pictures. There are already some great names signed up for key roles and to direct the movie. Caffeine Nights will be publishing Top Dog in paperback as the official film tie-in during late December, with the film scheduled for release in February 2014.
Caffeine Nights will also be publishing paperback versions of Dougie’s new comedy football novel Wings of a Sparrow and the prequel to Top Dog, The Crew.
Caffeine Nights managing director, Darren Laws said “Dougie is a fantastic writer for both screen and books which is rarer than many people think. He relates to his readers with stories that work on many levels which is why he can make the transition from paper to screen. Dougie is a tireless professional and we are excited to have signed him.”
Caffeine Nights Signs Garry Bushell
Caffeine Nights Publishing is delighted to announce that it has signed author, journalist and punk band manager, Garry Bushell to publish the third novel in his Harry Tyler series. The publication of ‘Face Down’ follows Two-Faced and The Face published by John Blake. ‘Face Down’ is the third instalment of the Harry Tyler pulp fiction trilogy. Book one, The Face, introduced undercover cop Harry Tyler and told how he brought down vicious South London crime family, the Bakers. The novel was a controversial success when it was published, selling out three editions and making front page news. The follow-up, Two-Faced saw detective turned renegade Harry escape a lonely death in Ireland after being set up by MI5.
Face Down catches up with Harry in 2012. The fast-talking character is surviving on his wits in the North West of England until fate conspires to reunite him with villain John Baker, known as Johnny Too, released from jail early as bait for a serial killer.
“We are thrilled to have Garry on board. Face Down is a great book in the style and tradition of the previous two novels in the series. It’s a fast, action-packed and full-on sexy book that readers will love.” said Darren Laws, CEO of Caffeine Nights. “Signing Garry is a major coup for an independent publisher of our size, but it highlights our ambition to attract quality authors with great novels.”
Garry Bushell commented, “People kept asking me what Harry Tyler would do next; for all his flaws as a human being, they seem to really like the character. I didn’t want to leave Harry in limbo either. So I’m very happy to be finishing the trilogy and even happier to have signed up with Caffeine Nights, an independent publishing house who specialise in crime fiction, to do so. This new adventure reunites Harry with his smartest, toughest foe, gangster Johnny Too from The Face, and pits him against a deadly new adversary.”
The novel is scheduled for an autumn publication in paperback and all eBook formats.
